Repeats
Your prescription may include repeats so you can access more units of medication. This refers to the number of times you can reorder your prescribed dose before requiring a follow up consultation to discuss renewing your prescription with your doctor.
When ordering you can select a partial amount or the full repeat allowance.
In the example above, either the full script (2 units) or a partial order (1 unit) can be selected.
You can see how many repeats you have left on your prescription when ordering.
In this example, an order for 1 unit has been placed previously, so only 1 unit is available to be ordered.
Dispense Interval
Due to medical dispensing regulations, each medication you are prescribed will also have a set interval, which limits how much can be dispensed at a time. Your doctor can give you more information about the interval they have set for you.
If you order more than the set amount within the interval, your order will show as being in a “dispense interval”. This means it can’t be dispensed until the interval passes.
Placing an Order
If there is an active dispense interval on your medication, you’ll be notified within the Patient Portal when placing an order. This indicates that you cannot immediately refill the medication.
If you're willing to wait, you can place the order and it will be processed once the dispense interval ends.
Alternatively, if you prefer not to wait for the dispense interval to end, you can deselect the affected medication to remove it from your order.
Understanding Intervals
You can view the dispense interval for each of your medications on the prescription received from your alternative health clinic. Each medication will have an interval listed, and they may be different.
If the “Max quantity per repeat” on your prescription is “2” and the “Interval” is “14 days”, you can order a maximum of 2 units of that medication within a 14 day period.
The dispense interval is based on the dispensed date of your last order.
For example, if you order 1 unit of medication on 1 November and it’s dispensed from the pharmacy on 4 November, the 14 day period will start from 4 November.
During this time, you will only be able to order 1 additional unit of medication, because the maximum quantity on your script is 2 units.
Once the dispense interval ends, you can order the full quantity of your script again.
If your medication is showing a "Dispense Interval" and you're not sure why, or you believe there’s been an error, please contact uMeds.
Script Duration
Due to schedule 8 medication regulations, prescriptions may remain valid for 6 months. However this varies depending on the doctor's assessment of your circumstances.
Your prescription needs to be active when your medication is dispensed from the pharmacy. To ensure you have your medication if you need it, we recommend ordering at least 10 days before your prescription expires. If your prescription expires after you order but before the medication is dispensed, the order will need to be cancelled and refunded.
You can view the expiry date on the prescription received from your alternative health clinic.
